The American Taekwondo Association held its 2019 Martial Arts World Championship in Little Rock, Arizona.

The martial arts championship was won by Yani Cancino, 11, from Reno. She has trained and competed for five years to win the top prize.

Cancino is a member of Cancino’s Black Belt Academy lead by chief instructor Mark Cancino.

Cancino’s team took home five World Champion Titles. Mark won four, including creative forms, creative weapons, extreme forms, and extreme weapons.

On top of the five titles won, the team took home over 30 medals.

The American Taekwondo Association is the largest Martial Arts Organization in North America with more than 1 million students registered.

The Cancino Black Belt Academy will soon be celebrating its 20th anniversary. The Academy was founded by Mark’s father Joel in 1999 but was later passed down.
