Blanchard, Krasner & French, a law firm with offices in Reno, Nevada, and La Jolla, California, is hosting a free educational session on select legal issues Monday, September 23, in honor of American Business Women’s Day (observed on September 22) at the University of Nevada, Reno Innevation Center – Powered by Switch, and sponsored in part by This Is Reno, local media outlet. Abigail G. Stephenson, partner at Blanchard, Krasner & French, will lead the session beginning at 4 p.m. and will address a variety of issues relevant to business owners.

While women entrepreneurs and business owners are encouraged, all are invited, as Stephenson will review key topics, including select aspects of entity formation, buy-sell and related agreements between owners, employment law and intellectual property protection. The session will remain high level and leave time for a question and answer period.

Stephenson is a licensed attorney in both Nevada and California. Her business law practice includes a wide range of services for privately held companies including entity formation, purchases and sales, real property transactions, contract review and preparation, succession planning, and intellectual property licensing and protection. She also provides estate planning and probate and trust litigation services.

While the event is free, organizers are asking attendees to consider making a $5 to $10 donation to the Dress for Success Reno – Northern Nevada chapter, a nonprofit that empowers women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and the development tools to help women thrive in work and life.

“As a firm, we care deeply about giving back in our communities,” said Stephenson. “This is an opportunity to extend some knowledge to women who may need clarity before launching their next chapter, or to those who want to confirm they’re managing their businesses properly. If we can further contribute to a healthy, growing business landscape by sharing some of this information, we are happy to do so.”

While it is a free event, seating is limited. Attendees are asked to RSVP on Facebook. The University of Nevada, Reno Innevation Center – Powered by Switch is located at 450 Sinclair Street in Reno, NV and the session will take place on the first floor in the Concept Café.
