Annual Pops on the River Returns July 13

Date:

Reno Phil’s Pops on the River makes a comeback for the orchestra’s 51st season, and to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Woodstock, the group will perform A Night at Woodstock on Saturday, July 13 at 8:00 p.m. at Wingfield Park.

Take a trip back in time to New York’s Catskill Mountains, circa 1969, and enjoy songs made famous by Janis Joplin, The Who, Jimi Hendricks, Santana, and more! This concert, in celebration with Artown, will showcase the Reno Phil Orchestra performing upbeat classics conducted by Laura Jackson and Jeans ‘N’ Classics.

“The Reno Phil is always thrilled to bring back an era of some of the most famous musical creations in history every year for this event,” said Music Director and Conductor, Laura Jackson. “The Woodstock era was such a lively time, and we can’t wait to see everyone who comes out to enjoy it!”

Celebrate this evening with tie-dyed shirts and groove to songs from the Woodstock era. Every July for 25 years, the Reno Phil has performed this concert, a major fundraising event, at Wingfield Park in downtown Reno complete with decorated tables and costumes. Tables are judged and prizes will be awarded for the following categories: most historic, most outrageous, most elegant, best drinkable concoction, best Woodstock theme, and best of show.

“This is such a fun summer event filled with creative costumes, great music, and an even better community,” said Jackson.

Wine from Skyline Kitchen & Vine will be available for pre-order and for purchase on-site. Catering partners Blend Catering, Liberty Food & Wine, Rounds Bakery, Savory Catering, and Famous Dave’s are all part of this unforgettable event.

Wingfield Park opens for table decorating and set up at 5 p.m. and the concert will begin at 8 p.m. With the generous of the support of our community, all sponsorships and tables are sold out. Because of this, the general admission seating area has been moved and two astroturf lawn areas have been added with additional large screens that will provide great views of the stage. This seating will only be available on the day of the concert, tickets are $20 each and gates open at 5 p.m.
