The Whittier Trust Company of Nevada, Inc. is pleased to announce that Derek Hamblet, assistant vice president and client advisor, was recently awarded the Certified Trust and Financial Advisor (CTFA) professional certification from the American Bankers Association ®, and graduated with honors from Cannon Trust School, offered by Cannon Financial Institute.

“Earning the CTFA certification and graduating with honors from Cannon Trust School validates Derek’s experience and depth of education in the wealth management industry, as well as his commitment to his personal and professional excellence,” said William Ramsey, president of the Whittier Trust Company of Nevada, Inc.

The Cannon Financial Institute’s honors graduate status is awarded to individuals who demonstrate excellence in the field of wealth management and trust. Derek is one of only a few students to earn this level of academic achievement in the Cannon schools this year. To become an honors graduate, the student must score 90 percent or higher on all course level exams and successfully pass the certification exam. To qualify for the CTFA certification, individuals must have certain levels of experience and education in the trust profession, pass an exam and agree to abide by a code of ethics. The CTFA exam covers many areas including fiduciary and trust activities, financial planning, tax law and planning, investment management and ethics.

Derek is responsible for providing financial, fiduciary and family office services to high net-worth families, individuals and tax-exempt entities. He works closely with clients, their family members and their advisors to build individualized, multi-generational strategies and solutions to help meet complex financial needs. Derek earned his Bachelor of Science in finance with an emphasis in economics and accounting from the University of Nevada, Reno, earned his certificate in financial planning from Bryant University, and is a Certified Financial Planner TM professional.
