The University of Nevada, Reno has scheduled a cybersecurity conference from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. April 2 in the Joe Crowley Student Union’s Glick Ballroom on campus.
This free event will consist of industry and academic experts from various fields. Goals include building partnerships and to inform participants of the opportunities UNR offers.
According to organizers, cybersecurity has major implications for economic development in Nevada, such as aerospace and defense, banking, healthcare, information technology, media, advanced manufacturing and online gaming. Cybersecurity also has important implications for Nevada’s power grid as well as for the large and growing tech presence here, event literature states.

° 9 to 9:30 a.m. Breakfast and opening remarks from Shamik Sengupta, UNR Cybersecurity Center executive director
° 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Keynote address from Mridul Gautam, vice president for research and innovation and UNR mechanical engineering professor
° 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. Vulnerability analysis and penetration testing
° 11:15 to noon Society of Women Engineers in cybersecurity
° Noon to 1 p.m. Lunch
° 1 to 1:45 p.m. Cybersecurity in critical infrastructure
° 1:45 to 2:30 p.m. Legal and interdisciplinary aspects in cybersecurity
° 2:30 to 4 p.m. Industry showcase
° 4 p.m. Remarks by Emmanuel “Manos” Maragakis, UNR College of Engineering dean
° 4 to 6 p.m. Evening social in the Glick Ballroom or a game of “Capture the flag” outside of Edmund J. Cain Hall
