The Skate Jam is back this weekend at Jub Jub’s.

In conjunction with the Nevada Museum of Art, the Holland Project Gallery is proud to host the 2019 Scholastic Art Exhibit honoring Northern Nevada’s up and coming teen artists and Scholastic Art Gold Key recipients. The opening reception is Friday, Feb. 22nd from 6-8pm. There will be food trucks and music provided by DJ Emma Rash. The Scholastic Art Exhibit will be on display from Feb. 22nd – Mar. 15th in the Holland Project Gallery with gallery hours Wed-Fri, 12-6pm or by appointment by contacting [email protected] or calling 775-448-6500

Bub Coffee Roasters on the River will be hosting an artist reception for local visual artist, Monique Rebelle on Saturday, 2/23, 5pm-7pm. Monique moved to Reno in 2000 and paints in non-objective and sometimes figurative styles.

On Saturday night, the Battle Born Dollz present The Great Gatsby Gala at the VFW Battle Born Post 9211. Featuring the comedic talents of Elgin Alway and Paul Spock, the themed event will include food, drink, auctions and more. The fundraiser will benefit Honor Flight Nevada and the Veterans Guest House. $20 tickets are available at the door or at Eventbrite.

On Friday night, Artown presents Ailey II, a travelling repertory ensemble of modern dance. Ailey II is universally renowned for merging the spirit and energy of the country’s best young dance talent with the passion and creative vision of today’s most outstanding emerging choreographers. Dance Magazine calls Ailey II “second to none”, and The New York Times declares, “There’s nothing like an evening spent with Ailey II, the younger version of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater.” The performance will be held at the Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts, 7:30pm-10pm. Limited tickets are still available online or at the box office.

On Sunday, join the Reno Tango Collective for their monthly event, Saint Tango Milonga, at The Saint. Every 4th Sunday of every month, get together to improve your technique AND have fun at the milonga! Stop in at 4:30 for a lesson in tango technique together with Fredy & Julia, instructors trained by Argentine maestros; they can assist you in your posture, walk and embrace. At 5:30, the floor opens up for dancing to a wonderful music selection at the milonga!
