Nick Poulakidas Elementary School celebrated a milestone moment in the new school’s construction on Friday. The last piece of the steel for the school was hoisted and mounted into place.

Attendees were encouraged to sign the beam before its final placement. Many of these signatures belonged to young children who will be attending the school when it opens, expected to be in August this year.

Parents and their children gathered around the piece of steel signing their names, adding notes, and taking pictures of their contributions.

The beam is part of a 5th-grade classroom. The truss, with student and parent comments, will be resting over students as they attend their last grade at the school.
