While farmers markets are associated with warmer weather, The Riverside Farmers Market, held each Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon, is in full swing selling fresh vegetables, meats, cheese, pastries, and more.

You just might want to remember your coat.

Dona Reynolds of Prema Farms said that using heated greenhouses allows them to grow throughout the winter. She explained she hears feedback from the Reno community in support of the market and that the demand in the winter was high. Vendors told me that by the time I arrived, at 10:30 am, they had already sold most of their inventory.

While cold, the market still has that community feel as people talked among one another on a wide range of topics as they picked their favorite produce.

If a little chill in the air doesn’t scare you off, the Riverside Farmers Market is worth going to next time you find your refrigerator is running a little sparse.

The market is held at the McKinley Arts Center, 925 Riverside Drive.
