Sparks Thanksgiving Turkey Trot Celebrating 20 Years

The timed 10-kilometer (6.2-mile) run utilizes a local bicycle path and patrolled city streets. The untimed 2-mile run circles Sparks Marina Park. Start time is 8:30 a.m. at Scheels All-Sports located at 1200 Scheels Drive.

Registration fees for both races are $25 until Nov. 15 and can be paid in person, online or by mail. In-person entries are being accepted at the Sparks Parks and Recreation Department, 98 Richards Way, and at Scheels.

The price increases to $30 per participant if signing up on active.com from Nov. 16-18. After that, the cost climbs to $40 Nov. 19-21 when registering at Scheels and $60 cash only on race day starting at 6:30 a.m.

Fees include a long-sleeved T-shirt and post-race refreshments. Awards for 10K runners will be in the following age divisions by gender: 5 and younger, 6-10, 11-15, 16-20, 21-30, 31-40, 41-50, 51-60, 61-70, 71-80 and over 80.

Pre-race packet pickup is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Nov. 19-21 on the second floor of Scheels.

Partial proceeds will go toward Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful and the Sparks Youth Scholarship Fund.

Pets, bicycles, scooters and skates are prohibited.
