Runners support Autism awareness

Take the Hill for Autism came back to Huffaker Park this past Saturday to raise awareness about autism. The event was hosted by The Autism Coalition of Nevada.

The 5k run once boasted over 100 runners per year, but was delayed for two years due to serious health issues for ACON president Michelle Scott-Lewing. The 5k is now back and has already set plans to return next year as well.

Attendance was light this year, but runners like Karen Hardy and Melissa Wilson said it was a good chance to get some exercise and support the cause. While the Huffaker Park trail offers its own set of challenges, both said they were planning on participating in next year’s event.
