PHOTOS: Dragon Boat Races Return for Second Year

Immunize Nevada and GWN Events hosted the second annual Northern Nevada International Dragon Boat Festival at the Sparks Marina on Saturday, Aug. 18.

A warm, rather windless day created great racing conditions. Racers rowed hard across nearly the entirety of the Sparks Marina in a rough average of 2 minutes and 30 seconds. Team DragonMax, out of Berkeley, California set the day’s record of 2 minutes and 12 seconds.

Immunize Nevada was competing in the event, which was a fundraiser for the nonprofit, and promoting vaccinations for Nevadans. You can learn more about them at https://immunizenevada.org/

Ty O'Neil

Ty O’Neil is a lifelong student of anthropology with two degrees in the arts. He is far more at home in the tear gas filled streets of war torn countries than he is relaxing at home.
