REI is offering weekend classes for children who are struggling with learning to ride their bicycles.

According to REI, a combination of personalized and group instruction will help children ages 5 to 11 overcome their fears and teach them skills, such as starting, stopping, balancing, and maneuvering.

Children must arrive with their own bicycles with the training wheels removed. Tires must be properly inflated and they should be able to sit on their seat with their feet touching the ground.

Helmets and close-toed shoes are required. Elbow and knee pads are optional.

Classes are scheduled from 8 to 10 a.m. Aug. 5, Aug. 12, Sept. 9, Oct. 7, Oct. 21 and Nov. 11 in the parking lot at REI, 2225 Harvard Way. Parents must stay on site during the class.

Cost is $60 per class for REI members and $70 for nonmembers.

For more information or to register, call 775-828-9090 or visit https://www.rei.com/event/how-to-ride-a-bike-for-kids/reno/209008.
