Friends, community members, and family gathered yesterday at the University of Nevada, Reno to support Aaron Salazar, who was critically injured while riding an Amtrak train outside of Truckee, Calif.

Austin Sailas, Aaron’s cousin, welcomed the group while Sean Savoy read a prayer. The event was in English and Spanish and was hosted by UNR students and faculty. View a photo gallery below.

Salazar’s family is seeking answers to many questions about how he was injured nearly a month ago. The family is requesting the FBI to take over Amtrak’s investigation and launched a petition for that effort: https://www.thepetitionsite.com/218/267/003/demand-justice-for-aaron/.

“As much as we would like to trust Amtrak, we fear that this case is being investigated with a bias to protect the company from any liabilities,” family members said.
