High school graduation ceremonies get underway next week and the Washoe County School District is reminding students, their families, and other guests to observe some general rules at Lawlor Events Center at the University of Nevada, Reno, where the majority of commencements are scheduled.

Because there are back-to-back ceremonies scheduled most days, people will have short windows of time to leave the arena before those from other schools begin to arrive.

Motorists are asked to park in designated lots and use northbound North Virginia Street when arriving for ceremonies. The right-hand lane will be dedicated to Lawlor traffic.

Free parking is available in the West Stadium Parking Complex, which lies directly north of Lawlor and west of Mackay Stadium, as well as the Brian J. Whalen Parking Complex, which lies south of Lawlor.  Look for directional signage for each school’s designated parking area.

Disabled and limited mobility parking and drop-off is available on the first floor of the West Stadium Parking Complex. Wheelchair assistance will be available from the first floor drop-off area to Lawlor Events Center.

The walkway between Legacy Hall and Lawlor will be closed because a broken sprinkler line is being repaired. Guests walking between the West Stadium garage and Lawlor will be directed to alternate routes.
