During its 2018 Annual Conference, the National Association of Local Housing Finance Agencies (NALHFA) presented the Nevada Rural Housing Authority (NRHA) with the Single-Family Excellence award in recognition of the Home At Last program. This marks the third year in a row that the agency received recognition from NALHFA, and twice for its successful efforts to serve homebuyers in rural Nevada.
“For over 35 years, NALHFA has been recognizing the outstanding efforts of its local housing finance agency members. This year was no exception,” said Jonathan Paine, NALHFA executive director. “NALHFA received several outstanding nominations this year and the Nevada Rural Housing Authority stood out among the pack, with its innovation and creative solutions with the Home At Last program. The NRHA team should be proud of this prestigious honor and applauded for their achievement.”
The Home At Last program is renowned as a national leader, implementing innovative access to credit solutions that allow low to moderate-income families to experience homeownership, often for the first time. Programs include educational workshops, Down Payment Assistance up to $22,655, closing cost grants of $1,500 or $2,500, Mortgage Credit Certificates, and the “HAL Pals” free pet adoption program for new homeowners. The robust number of program options include exclusive features for veterans and multiple enhancements tailored for rural homebuyers. These programs are designed to benefit homebuyers, lenders and real estate agents, especially as the region faces a significant spike in housing costs.
“NRHA’s focus is to remove barriers to homeownership,” said Gary Longaker, NRHA executive director. “The staff at NRHA is doing just that by opening doors to help thousands of families in rural Nevada achieve their homeownership dreams. We are honored that NALHFA recognizes the mission-driven passion and accomplishments of the agency and its dedicated staff.”
