PHOTOS: Sunday is Final Day for Christmas Tree Recycling

Date:

The Hills Angels 4×4 Club were on hand Saturday to help locals unload and stack Christmas trees at Rancho San Rafael Regional Park as part of the Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful (KTMB) Christmas tree recycling program.

Tye Morgan, a Hill Angels member, talked to me about the group’s efforts to maintain and share Nevada’s backcountry. This annual event helps raise money to help fund KTMB’s additional clean-up efforts in the Truckee Meadows throughout the year.

Morgan and other members said their number one goal is to keep public lands public. In addition to their efforts towards “the great public lands cleanup” they have even worked with the Washoe County HASTY team in training assistance.

The all-volunteer crew unloaded what must have been in the hundreds of Christmas trees with big smiles and lots of jokes, combining the somewhat laborious work with the feeling of a backyard barbecue.

Sunday, Jan. 7 is the final day to recycle a Christmas tree at one of KTMB’s drop-off locations.
