Plans have been announced for another women’s march taking place Jan. 20, 2018 at the Thompson Federal Building.

Last year’s event had record-setting attendance — an estimated 10,000 people marched from the federal building to city plaza on First Street.

“We plan to have several inspirational speakers, men and women who believe that women’s issues today affect us all,” said Matthew Fonken, an organizer of the march. “Many people wanted the new administration to know that we planned to fight to keep the rights that have been won.

“This January, there will be even more reasons for citizens to rally and march, as many of those rights have been discarded or eroded.”

Scheduled speakers include Mylan Hawkins, Laynette Evans, and Pat Lynch. The march starts at 11:30 a.m. and is expected to go until about 1:30 p.m.
