The Veterans Guest House, which provides temporary housing for veterans and their families while receiving medical treatment at in Reno, is doubling its capacity with a new addition to its existing facility.

A $4.4 million project officially broke ground today and is expected to be completed in May of 2018. The new facility is next door to the house on Locust Street, near the VA.

“We want everyone to know that we are working to serve the needs of all veterans—because the need is growing,” said Noreen Leary, CEO of the guest house. “If you are not a veteran yourself, you probably know someone who is and needs to know more about the guest house and its mission of providing United States military service veterans and their families temporary accommodations when receiving treatment at a medical facility in the Reno-Sparks area. We’ll be here as long as there is a need to serve our veterans today, tomorrow and for years to come.”

More than 20 beds and 12 guest rooms are being added to the house with the construction project.
