Thomas Leaves City, Joins County as Assistant County Manager

Washoe County Manager John Slaughter announced today that Kate Thomas, Reno’s assistant city manager, is moving to the county to become the assistant county manager.

Thomas is replacing Kevin Schiller, who is taking the position of assistant county manager of Clark County, Reno City Manager Sabra Newby’s former position.

“We are delighted to welcome Kate Thomas to Washoe County,” Slaughter said. “Her wealth of experience with state and local government will serve our constituents well and she is a great addition to my executive team. She brings a long-standing history of excellence serving our region and we couldn’t be happier to have her on the team.”

Thomas will begin with Washoe County on July 10, 2017. She previously served as deputy secretary of state.
