Suspect Arrested After Multiple Fires Were Set Yesterday

CloughlyReno Fire Department  (RFD) investigators today arrested Justin Cloughly, 40, of Reno, with two counts of arson after a string of fires were set yesterday morning around Reno.

The Fire Department responded Monday to the following intentionally set fires:

  • 6:45 a.m. – Intentionally set fire in a laundry room at 1130 Glenda.
  • 8:07 a.m. – Intentionally set fire to landscape vegetation and attempted set to a pressure washer behind 4983 South Virginia Street (Bed Bath and Beyond).
  • 8:22 a.m. – Rubbish and grass fire behind Barnes and Noble located at 5555 South Virginia Street.
  • 8:23 a.m. – Rubbish fire and tractor trailer set on fire at Hobby Lobby located at 5685 South Virginia Street, causing one smoke inhalation victim.
  • 9:50 a.m. – Fire set to couch and pine tree which damaged two apartment units at 1549 Delucchi Lane.
  • 10:04 a.m. – Fire set to tree and fence at 6200 Meadowood Mall Circle.
  • 10:20 a.m. – Smoldering tree stump located at 630 Brinkby.

Investigators said that additional charges likely pending further investigation and evidence collection at the other scenes. The RFD is asking is asking for anyone with additional information about the fires to please call: 775-334-2300.
