School Safety Forum Scheduled Thursday at Reno High School

chief-trevino-school-police-300x200-3048240-6049157The public is invited to a free community forum and roundtable discussion regarding school safety scheduled from 5:30 to 7 p.m. April 27 in the cafeteria at Reno High School, 395 Booth St.

Information on the Washoe County School District’s comprehensive safety assessment executive report and independent audit findings will be provided and discussed.

Topics are as follows: school visitor management, such as why people must sign in for every visit; campus security, including funding for upgrades; bullying and what parents can do if they think their children are victims; mental wellness, including what’s normal behavior and what’s not; various types of emergency procedures and how the district communicates via social media.

The Safe and Healthy Schools Commission, an advisory committee to the Board of Trustees, is hosting the event.
