Area law enforcement agencies are hosting their fourth community and policing event at the Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows located at 2980 East 9th Street on Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Community and religious leaders are coming together with law enforcement to discuss how to build stronger collaborations. Free parking, a barbecue and ice cream are available.

According to the Reno Police Department, “the two-hour event will begin with an initial welcome and introduction of the discussion topics and an overview of changes in local law enforcement from previous symposiums. This will be followed by three break-out tables at which the public may ask questions of community leaders and law enforcement.”

Topics include:

  • Mental health and policing
  • Immigration and refugees
  • Use of force

The symposium is supported by local businesses, churches and individuals such as Drs. Cesar Minera and Norris Dupree.

The Reno Police Department, Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, UNR Police Department and other agencies will be on hand.
