Several free events have been scheduled at various venues this week locally to mark International Women’s Day.

Observed on March 8, International Women’s Day has been observed since the early 1900s and celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. It’s also a call to action for accelerating gender parity.

This year’s campaign theme is “be bold for change.”
