PHOTOS: The Vagina Monologues, With a Dash of Theatrical Flair

Date:

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

This is more than the usual monologues; this version of “The Vagina Monologues” brings a theatrical flair to the performances that not only adds power, but also elements that address local statistics and challenges.

This incarnation of “The Vagina Monologues” is produced by Sisters Three Productions and is performed at The Potentialist Workshop as a benefit for Safe Embrace, a local woman’s shelter and part of the annual V-Day Campaign. This is the second time Sisters Three Productions has produced “The Vagina Monologues.”

Written by Eve Ensler in 1996, this play is a series of monologues influenced by interviews Ensler conducted with 200 women about their views on sex, relationships, and violence against women. It’s a powerful play with very adult situations and is not for children or anyone easily offended by the portrayal of violence against women.

That being said, this production addresses the subject of violence against women in a very hard-hitting way that will perhaps open your eyes to situations you may not have thought about, but are parts of our lives and communities.

The women performing in this production of “The Vagina Monologues” show their passion in their performances. With a mix of seasoned actresses and women new to the stage the performers bring a sisterhood to the evening that the audience can feel.
