City Lays Groundwork for Multi-Acre Recreational Complex in South Reno

Date:

The City of Reno is proceeding with a proposal to start developing dozens of acres of its property in south Reno for a sports and recreation complex.

Five parcels totaling more than 100 acres are proposed to be turned from vacant land into a recreational complex that would include a golf course and baseball fields.

Located adjacent to Pembroke Drive, the city is looking for a company to propose designs for the fields.

City Parks Director Andy Bass said that a request for qualifications is the first step in the process.

City council members expressed concerned about outreach to nearby residents, but they ultimately approved a motion to look for a firm that can develop and manage the area as park land and open space.
