Toytopia Opens at May Museum

What was your favorite childhood toy? Whatever it was then (or now) you’re sure to find it in TOYTOPIA, a new exhibition at the Wilbur D. May Museum. Opening Jan. 21, TOYTOPIA will rekindle the wonder and 
delight of your favorite childhood moments and inspire today’s children. Learn about the origins of toys, who made them, why some succeeded or failed, which have become collector’s items, and more.

With a footprint of nearly 7,000 square feet, Toytopia will showcase specialty exhibits from well-known toymakers like Hasbro®, Duncan Yo-Yo®, Schleich®, Breyer®, Crayola®, KNEX® (Lincoln Logs®) and many others. This exhibition is an immersive adventure through 100 years of classic toys, games, and dolls. But visitors won’t just see the toys – they’ll also be able to get hands-on and try out the toys for themselves!

 Toytopia will feature several special displays:

  • The World’s Largest Etch-A-Sketch
  • Retro Arcade Area, featuring classic games from the 1970s and 80s
  • A life-size walk-through Doll House
  • Life-Size Monopoly Car and game board
  • LEGO Play Area/LEGO Building Wall
  • Model trains
  • Schylling Tin Toys
  • Keva Planks, Lincoln Logs, and Brain Teasers play areas
  • Stop motion movie maker
  • Blanket fort builder
  • Zoltar and the walking piano from the hit 1988 movie “Big”
  • And more!
