More than 1,200 turned out for the inaugural Forté Awards Show at the Grand Theatre at Grand Sierra Resort and Casino Nov. 3. The high attendance at the show spelled success for the three benefit charities: Food Bank of Northern Nevada, Veterans Resource Centers of America, and Nevada Humane Society.

The Forté Awards Show is like “The Grammys”, “The Oscars” and “The Tony Awards” all rolled into one and focusing on local artists and entertainers. Taking months of work, hundreds of bands, musicians, singers, actors and actresses, dancers, magicians, and comedians were nominated and reviewed by the awards committee. Thousands of fan votes determined the winners.

The big winner of the night was guitarist/vocalist Tyler Stafford who went home with three awards in the Guitar (solo), Male Vocalist, and Americana, Bluegrass & World Music categories. Scroll down for the entire list of winners below the photos.

John Tuckness has been photographing rock concerts in the Reno/Sparks/Tahoe area and as far as Northern California since 2004. He tries to attend as many shows as he can. John knew he wanted to be a concert photographer when he went to his first concert, Kiss and Montrose way back in 1976. He saw three guys shooting the show and thought to himself, "that's what I want to do." After many years of undercover work (sneaking his camera into venues), he finally got noticed and started getting photo passes through PR people and the bands. John has had many of his photos published in newspapers, websites and band autobiographies.
