PHOTOS: Veterans Day Parade in Downtown Reno

Date:

This year’s Veterans Day parade in Reno was a historic event marking the first time that the parade has crossed the new Virginia Street bridge. Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve kicked off the parade by tossing a custom-made wreath into the Truckee River.

The parade started with ROTC programs which at one point extended the entire length of the parade. They were followed by a variety of veteran groups. The Reno-Sparks Indian Colony’s display was especially moving, featuring black and white images of Native American services members.

Parade watchers and participants alike enjoyed the stunning weather and noted this year’s parade being one of most picturesque in memory.
