The American Red Cross of Northern Nevada is offering free smoke alarm installations. You may call 202-716-9418 to make an appointment for the installation.

“These devices have been proven to save lives,” said Red Cross Executive Director Zanny Marsh. “You have less than two minutes to escape a home fire. Having working smoke alarms is an important step in keeping yourself and your loved ones at home safe.”

This offer is open to all Northern Nevada residents — not just in the Reno-Sparks area.

“We want everyone in Northern Nevada to have a smoke alarm because, during a home fire, everyone deserves a chance to get out alive,” Marsh added.

Volunteers will also be distributing safety tips on home fire prevention and the importance of having a family escape plan.
