With Christmas Day approaching, theft of packages from front porches has increased in the Truckee Meadows.

In an effort to aid local delivery companies and the community, the Reno Police Department wants to provide tips for preventing package theft:

  • Report any suspicious vehicles following delivery trucks through neighborhoods
  • Report any suspicious people walking or riding bikes in residential areas
  • If able, have your packages delivered somewhere more secure
  • Request signature service for your packages
  • Track your package through the delivery company and arrange to be at home or have someone you trust accept the package
  • Request to have your package held at the delivery company’s warehouse

Delivery drivers and citizens should contact Reno Police at (775) 334- COPS (2677) to report any suspicious activity.
