Most Bars in Compliance at 2015 Santa Crawl

Despite some citations and more than a dozen arrests, most bars were in compliance with alcohol regulations during last night’s Santa Crawl.

“The final statistics from the City of Reno have been collected regarding this year’s Santa Crawl,” said the City of Reno’s special events program manager Alexis Hill. “We want to thank the businesses and participants that helped make this year’s Santa Crawl a safe and fun event.”

According to the city,

  • 55 businesses were visited

  • 6 citations were issued during the event (alcohol cards and code enforcement)

  • 6 citations will be issued Monday following the event (unlicensed activity and 5.19 violations)

  • 2 bars were dangerously over capacity, and Reno Fire stopped the sale of alcohol from the bar until a safe capacity was met.

RPD statistic include the 2015 arrests, citations and detention figures:

  • Misdemeanor Arrests – 15
  • Warrant (1)
  • Domestic Battery (2)
  • Minor in Consumption (1)
  • Possession of Marijuana (1)
  • Failure to obey traffic control device (1)
  • Jaywalking (1)
  • Obstructing and Resisting Officer (2)
  • Open container (1)
  • Intoxicated pedestrian in a roadway (1)
  • Trespassing (1)
  • Assault (1)
  • DUI (2)
  • Civil Protective Custody – 3
  • Citation – 1
  • Battery (1)

“The Reno Police Department continues to work this event as a cooperative effort between those in attendance, the local businesses, the event promoter, and the citizens of Reno,” said Reno Police Chief Jason Soto.

Six bars received citations for serving alcohol to minors:

  1. Stadium Bar – 345 North Virginia Street
  2. Hussong’s Cantina – 407 North Virginia Street
  3. Mellow Fellow – 300 East 2nd Street
  4. El Cortez Lounge – 239 West 2nd Street
  5. Singer Social Club – 219 West 2nd Street
  6. Morris Burner Hotel – 400 East 4th Street

One allowed entry to a minor and was cited:

  1. Brew Brothers – 345 North Virginia Street

The Reno Police Department estimated that about 15,000 attended this year’s event.
