Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

The Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District (TMFPD) will permit open burning from October 21 to Saturday October 31, 2015. Residents of TMFPD will be allowed to burn vegetation and ditches in preparation for the spring irrigation. Permits with all restrictions and information are available at www.washoecounty.us/tmfpd.

Those living within the hydrographic basin will not be permitted to burn. To find out if you live in the Truckee Meadows hydrographic basin visit http://wcgisweb.washoecounty.us/QuickMap/.

All burning must conclude by 2 p.m. daily. Residents will receive fines if the regulations listed on the burn permit are not followed or if residents burn outside of the approved burn times and dates. Additionally, burning of materials inside of a burn barrel or burning trash is not allowed.

The TMFPD requests that all residents pay close attention to the wind and surrounding structures prior to burning as well as follow the guidelines on the burn permit. Residents are also required to call the TMFPD before burning at (775) 326-6000 ext. 3, to verify that it is an approved burn day.

Burning will be shut down if there are predicted high winds or a Red Flag Warning at any time during the open burn period. Residents with questions can call the TMFPD main office at (775) 326-6000.
