Parents of school children at Mount Rose K-8 School of Languages helped raise $16,000 for the school recently.

Angela Watson, organizer of the fundraiser, and parent of Mt. Rose students, said that the money will go toward supplementing what teachers need to help with education efforts.

Last year was the first year the parents held such a fundraiser, bringing in $10,000, and this year topped that by $6,000.

“It was a city-wide effort but Midtown businesses made up the bulk of donated goods and services,” Watson said. “Reno’s businesses did a great job of support the school. The PTA’s goal is to give as much back to the school as we can.”

The event sold out of its 650 tickets.

Watson said that teachers vote on what they want to spend the money on, and the PTA pays for those items.
