RENO — The University of Nevada-Reno has fined football coach Brian Polian $10,000 after he twice was called unsportsmanlike penalties during Saturday’s 44-20 loss to Arizona.
UNR Athletic Director Doug Knuth announced the fine Tuesday in a statement that said any future offense will bring an automatic suspension and bigger fines.
Mountain West Conference officials reprimanded Polian last year for criticizing the officiating after Reno beat UNLV, and warned a second offense could mean stiffer penalties.
