Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

The Reno Chamber Orchestra began its 41st season Friday with the music of Dvorak: My Home Overture, Op. 62; Sibelius: Symphony No. 6 in D minor, Op. 104; Brahms: Violin Concerto in D major, Op. 77.

To start off the 2015-16 season, Noah Bendix-Balgley, Concertmaster of the Berlin Philharmonic and a Nevada Chamber Music Festival regular, performs one of the greatest of all violin concertos, that by Johannes Brahms.

The concert, led by Maestro Theodore Kuchar, also features an overture by Dvorák and an evocative symphony by Finnish composer Jean Sibelius.

On Thursday I was privileged to be at the rehearsal, and I can tell you that these performances will be entertaining and very moving. If you haven’t been to a performance at Nightingale Hall at the university this may be the one to start with.

There’s a performance today, Sunday, September 20, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Nightingale Concert Hall.
