CORRECTION:  The event was held Tuesday 9/22/15, not Thursday 9/24 as previously indicated. Sorry for the error.

The University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) is holding an opening of its downtown Innevation Center Tuesday. The center is powered by Switch, which funded $500,000 toward the center.

The center is a 25,000-square-foot facility, at 450 Sinclair Street, located three blocks from city hall and will offer co-working, conference and meeting spaces.

“The center’s services (and) resources will be available to faculty, staff and students and will be also be available to the public through a membership model, which is being finalized,” said UNR spokesperson Jane Tors. “The membership particulars should be announced by Nov. 1.

The facility is expected to help foster entrepreneurial activity with mentoring by industry executives, as well as a UNR information center and a Wolf Shop.

Three UNR industry-focused efforts will be housed there: the Nevada Center for Applied Research, Nevada Industry Excellence Center and the Nevada Advanced Autonomous Systems Innovation Center.

The opening is for invited guests and media.
