After the success of last year’s small Unmanned Aerial System Challenge, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University will be hosting another at this year’s National Championship Air Races in Reno.
Competitors may partake in either an “Open Class” race using their own drones, or the International Race of Champions” which requires all participants use identical drones provided by Embry-Riddle. Participants must be experienced and an Academy of Model Aeronautics membership is required for the Open Class.
“The objective of the small Unmanned Aerial System Challenge is to educate the public on UAS operations and opportunities, as well as highlight Nevada’s and Embry-Riddle’s leadership roles in unmanned development and innovation,” according to Embry-Riddle Worldwide Assistant Professor David Thirtyacre, who is the challenge coordinator. “It is great to give the public a taste of what our students are working on as part of the future of this exciting field.”
