Mayor Hillary Schieve signs documents to finalize the $10 purchase of the Cal Neva parking garage.

The City of Reno finalized this week the $10 purchase of the Cal Neva parking garage next to City Hall.

A consultant identified that the property needs upwards of $5 million in repairs.

The city is expected to allocate $3.5 million in property repairs and improvements.

“The City of Reno’s purchase of this garage sends a powerful message: that we care about our staff, our customers, and our citizens and that we are serious about blight,” Reno City Councilmember Naomi Duerr said.

The City has already set aside $1 million for high priority repairs.

“Moving forward, the City will think strategically about renovations, accessibility, and convenience to our employees and citizens,” City Manager Andrew Clinger said. “We want the public to know that creating and fostering a vibrant downtown is a top priority.”
