About 40 local youth are volunteering their time this week to help the poor and homeless clients of Catholic Charities & the St. Vincent’s Programs.
Students are volunteering today through through Friday, July 31, 2015.
“We think it’s really amazing that a group of teenagers is choosing to spend a portion of their summer giving back to the community we live in. They have a choice to spend their free time doing anything they like, and they chose to volunteer. That makes me so optimistic about our youth today and the potential for the future leaders of our state,” says Peter Vogel, CEO at Catholic Charities.
The student volunteers will serve food in St. Vincent’s Dining Room, prep food boxes at the St. Vincent’s Food Pantry, paint buildings and offices and will read stories at the facility’s childcare center.
