The Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District (TMFPD), the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension and Living With Fire are hosting a wildfire awareness event in Palomino Valley on Saturday, July 18th, at 10 a.m.
The Palomino Valley Fire Station can be found at 6015 Ironwood Rd. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet local volunteer firefighters as well TMFPD personnel. There will be activities for the kids, including the Ember House Game and Fire Safety House.
At 10 a.m., presentations will begin regarding local fire history and fire hazard, creating defensible space, making good landscape plan choices and the threat posed by burning embers to homes during a wildfire.
