The City of Reno issued a progress report today on the Virginia Street bridge.

We are now seven weeks into the construction phase on the Virginia Street Bridge Project and a great deal of work has been accomplished. Since June 1st the contractor has completed:

  • Demolition of the previous bridge structure
  • Installation of the four drilled shaft foundations on the south side of the river
  • Temporary soil nail shoring for the installation of the drilled shaft foundations on the north side of the river.

Crews have started building two concrete support pads for  new bridge beams and arches. Next month’s activities include:

  • On the south side of the river, crews will finish the support pads and then start constructing the concrete beams and arches for the new bridge.
  • On the north side of the river, crews will be installing the drilled shaft foundations and the temporary soil nailing to stabilize the slope for construction of the new flood walls.

Businesses are open during construction. For more information, visit: Reno.gov/VSB.
