On June 9th around 4.am., a hotel guest informed Circus Circus Reno staff of a woman attempting to climb over the railing on the 7th floor of a neighboring parking garage. Officers responded immediately. Three tried to communicate with her from the street, while Supervisor Joe Phillips and two others went to talk to her directly.

Within fifteen minutes, they learned she wanted to jump and police arrived, but they gave Phillips some distances, as he’d already developed a rapport with the young woman. Joe finally made his move and grabbed her waist to pull her to safety.

“Our team trains hard,” said Darrell Clifton, Security Director. “And we are regularly amazed at their ability to assess a situation, formulate a plan and take instant action to save a life. This is a reflection of their dedication and compassion.”

Supervisor Phillips was working with fellow security officers Josh Barnett, Nathan Anderline, Aimee Boganski, Bryan Hunter and Gamar Benton at the time. Each of these security officers was trained and ready for anything that could happen. Circus Circus Reno is grateful for their fearless security team.
