imbib-opening-10-of-12-225x300-9212002-1471842IMBĪB Custom Brews will be hosting a grand opening celebration on June 27, 2015 from 11am to 11pm. The first half of the event, from 11am to 6pm will feature beer pair and rare beer samples. Then, from 6pm to 11pm, there will be a party with live music, food trucks and even more delicious beer.

“We are excited to officially open our doors to the public to share our vision and our diverse lineup of beers,” said Matt Johnson, co-founder of IMBĪB Custom Brews. “Our grand opening will be a special opportunity to imbibe some of our best brews and participate in a sensory experience with our beer pairings and tasting stations.”

Tickets for the beer sampling portion of the day can be purchased in advance or at the door and attendees will receive no fewer than six beer samples, cheese and chocolates from local startup Sugar Love Chocolates.  The samples will also include beers  blended on the spot as well as rare beers that showcase wild fermentation.

The second portion of the event will not require tickets, but participants in the tasting will receive discounts on beer all day. Food trucks will serve a variety of delicious food and there will be live music from The Future Criminals of America, mr. euphoria and Appaloosa.

Plenty of parking is available at IMBĪB ‘s 75-year old facility, which has been vacant for more than 20 years. The brewery can easily be reached from downtown, the I-80 corridor and the brewery and medical districts.

IMBĪB recently received several honors for their unique, customer-engaging brewing methods. These awards include a locally coveted Accelerator Fund loan from the City of Reno and being named the 2015 winner of the Grandstand Sportswear and Glassware’s New Brewer Scholarship. The nationally competitive scholarship provides the brewery with $4,000 worth of custom designed glassware, miscellaneous swag and a free marketing assessment.

“We have worked hard to develop a brewery model that not only produces great beer, but also engages customers on a whole new level,” Johnson said. “We will brew a variety of beer styles to please everyone’s palette with a strong focus on barrel aged brews and are excited to showcase Reno’s first foeder (460-gallon oak vat), which is the centerpiece of our facility.”

IMBĪB Custom Brews specializes in old-world barrel aged beers, but also has a variety of malty, hoppy and easy drinking brews, typically having between eight and ten house-brews on tap at a time. The brewery engages customers in the brewing process by offering them three different ways to make sure their opinion is heard.

First is the Collaborator Club, a membership program where participants vote on the beers that are produced and receive an exclusive product.

Next, there’s the Custom Recipe Project that allows customers to participate in a consultation process and have a beer designed to specifically fit the theme of an event. Finally, IMBĪB offers a unique beer education experience including sensory tasting lessons, beer judge certification, and a crash course on brewing for beginners.

Matt Johnson, Jason Green and Bart Blank are the co-founders of IMBĪB Custom Brews. With roots in homebrewing, together they have over 30 years of combined brewing experience and are poised to introduce new and interesting styles of beer to the Reno market.
