Last Night, with the eve of The Summer Solstice upon us, and The 200th anniversary of
Waterloo, a trajedy occurred here in Reno that will forever be know as “The Day of Tan Paint.” In the hours of darkness somewhere between 9:pm and 9:am the beautiful street art, valued at an estimated $10 million dollars (Street Value) was obliterated with tan paint. CBRE who managed the property, owned by Washington Mutual Bank, located at 115 and 135 West Liberty Street had given me permission to mural the buildings, and on Earth Day this was accomplished by “The Group of Ten.” My trade for the building was to cover any tagging and keep an eye on it. It was suggested to me to “Feel free to mural both buildings as it will deter the gang banging taggers.” And so I did for two years.
