From May 11-28, the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office partnered with the Winnemucca Police Department, Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office and the Central Division of the Highway Patrol for a Click It or Ticket program. 241 citations and warnings were issued during this time period, including 107 speeding violations, 25 cell phone use violations, one drug arrest, and 59 warnings for various other infractions.

Joshua Aguilar and Lena Conway were arrested on charges of possession of a dangerous weapon, baton on Virginia Street near Commercial Row. Taran Williams was arrested on charges of O&R at the same time.

David Beckman was arrested for sexual assault on West 5th Street.

An investigation is ongoing in a report of a suspect shooting at a victim’s vehicle on Wedekind Road. The suspect confronted the victim and brandished a gun, leading the victim to flee. As he did so, the suspect shot the victim’s car several times. The investigation is ongoing.

Officers responded to a report of shots being fired on Helena Avenue. One casing was found and no injuries were reported. The investigation is ongoing.

A suspect is wanted on charges of attempted strong arm robbery on Kietzke Lane. The suspect approached the victim looking for spare change, which the victim stated he did not have. The suspect punched the victim in the face before fleeing. The suspect is described as a white male adult, mid 40s, 6’ tall with unkempt blonde hair, and was last seen wearing a black shirt and blue jeans.

Mohammad Rassel Ibrahim, owner of Dhaka Foods, Inc., Tania Halim, part owner of the Family Mart on 4th Street, and MD Abdul Hasnat, an employee of both stores were arrested on charges of food stamp (SNAP) fraud. Investigators found the suspects had worked with more than 200 SNAP recipients to obtain funds from the program. Nearly $380,000 was lost through fraudulent use of the program.

Stephen Christie was arrested on charges of eluding a peace office and other miscellaneous misdemeanor charges. He was also booked on charges of vehicle theft and conspiracy to commit grand theft auto.

Tracy Wright was arrested for burglary on Silverstone Place after the victim found Wright inside her residence, throwing property around.

Aubrey Lewis has been assessed and registered as a tier III sex offender residing in the 300 block of Westbrook Lane. Lewis is currently unemployed and not currently wanted by law enforcement. He is in compliance with all sex offender laws.

Jose Bermudez-Moreno was arrested on charges of armed robbery with a firearm and DUI. Alex Bermudez-Moreno was arrested on two charges of armed robbery. Victor Santacruz-Rodriguez was arrested on two charges of armed robbery, carrying a concealed weapon, and being intoxicated with a firearm.

Police are seeking the public’s help in finding an African-American female who is believed to have used a stolen debit card in two separate transactions, totaling more than $400, at Safeway, 2858 Vista Blvd. The suspect is described as about 20-30 years old, 5’4”-5’7” with long black hair in dreadlocks. The suspect was wearing black pants and a zebra-striped shirt. An unidentified tattoo appears across her chest above the neckline of her shirt.

Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying suspects in a theft at Western Village Casino. The victim left a large orange backpack in the bed of his pickup truck while inside the casino. It’s is believed that one suspect drove into the parking lot in a vehicle similar to a Nissan Pathfinder, while a second suspect arrived on foot, took the backpack, and entered the SUV before it took off. The value of the loss is estimated to be $950 worth of camping equipment.

Michael Kaufman was arrested on charges of possession of a stolen motor vehicle, driving on a revoked license, and driving a vehicle with fictitious plates.

May 29, 2015

Michael Hernandez of Cold Springs was arrested on one charge of child abuse with substantial bodily harm. The arrest was the result of a February incident involving Hernandez’s five month old son, who suffered trauma to the head while in the sole care of his father. The investigation is ongoing.

Robert Ramirez was ordered to appear in court on charges related to the 2005 homicide of Charlotte Szczepkowski, who was found murdered in her home. The case is currently undergoing further investigation.
