Street racing, not wearing a seat belt determined to be leading causes to the death of a 26-year-old

Just after 1 am on Sunday, January 18, 2015 two vehicles were participating in an illegal race southbound on South Virginia Street and were traveling at a high rate of speed.  The 26-year-old driver of one of the vehicles was unable to maintain control of his vehicle, which struck a curb median causing the vehicle to rotate and exit the right side of the roadway.

The driver, identified as Travis Roberson, was not wearing his seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle.  He was pronounced deceased on scene.  His 16-year-old passenger was wearing her seat belt. She received only minor injuries.
