January 11, 2015

Francisco Perez was arrested on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle and motorcycle at 4th and Vine Streets. He was stopped because the vehicle was missing its license plate and the motorcycle was in the truck bed.

Two victims were battered with bats on Carville. There are no suspects at this time.

Natasha Gonzales was arrested for domestic battery and child abuse on Autumn Leaf Way. Eddie Rangel was arrested for BDW with a knife.

There was a report of a BDW, shooting on Salem Place. Officers responded and one victim sustained non-life threatening injuries. The investigation is ongoing.

Ernest Nelson was arrested for PCS/PCS for Sales/Trafficking at 4th and Tacchino after being pulled over for a routine traffic stop. Jon Taylor was arrested on charges of ex-felon in possession of a firearm.

Shawn Anderson was arrested on charges of robbery with a deadly weapon and possession of drug paraphernalia on West 7th Street. He was attempting to exit a business without paying for merchandise when the victim tried to stop him, at which time the suspect pulled a knife to threaten the victim.

A carjacking occurred in the area of Vista del Lago Drive. A couple pulled their car out of their garage to park on the driveway and re-entered their home. When they returned to the car, a Hispanic male, wielding two handguns, approached them, demanding they lie on the ground. The victims complied and the suspect made off with a cell phone and the vehicle. Sparks police caught the suspect with the hour. Matthew Carrol was arrested on charges of robbery with a deadly weapon, grand theft auto, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of stolen property, ex-felon in possession of a firearm, and obstructing. Bail was set at $170,000.

Alan Widen was arrested on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, hatchet with elderly enhancement on West 2nd Street after the suspect and victim were involved in an argument during which the suspect produced a hatchet. Witnesses intervened during the struggle to separate them.

An armed robbery, ADW with knife took place on California Avenue. The victim attempted to stop the suspect who produced a knife and threatened the victim. The suspect eventually fled and the total loss has not been disclosed. The suspect is described as B/M/A, 5’10”, mid 40s, 175 pounds, gray and black facial hair, and was LSW a gray wool hat with a pompom, black jacket with a gray sweatshirt, and gray jeans.

Officers responded to a BDW, shooting on North Virginia Street. The victim’s injuries were non-life threatening and the investigation is ongoing.

Daniel Louis Torres was arrested on charges of possession of a stolen motor vehicle, possession of burglary tools, and possession of credit cards at 4th and Lake Streets.

Leo Ritchie was arrested on charges of robbery with a deadly weapon, grand theft auto, and kidnapping on Vine Street. The victim offered the suspects a ride; a suspect pulled a knife upon entering the vehicle and demanded to drive. The victim managed to jump from the vehicle and let the suspects drive off.

An evidence property viewing will take place on Tuesday, January 20 and Wednesday, January 21 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Sparks Police Department, 1701 E. Prater Way. All citizens wishing to view property must have a copy of the police report with them.

On January 5, a Hispanic male was seen robbing the ATM at US Bank in the 2100 block of Oddie Blvd. He was LSW an LA hat with the letters blacked out.

An armed robbery took place on South Virginia Street. The victim had just met the suspects and agreed to go to the victim’s room together. On entrance, the suspect produced a gun, stealing the victim’s wallet and cell phone before fleeing. Attempts by security to stop the suspect resulted in battering. A juvenile was arrested and Frederick Campbell was arrested for probation violation.

An armed robbery with a knife took place on East Grove Street. The suspect had previously entered the business, but this time produced a knife and demanded money and merchandise. The total loss has not been disclosed. The suspect is an H/M/A, mid 20s, 5’6”-5’8”, tall, thin build, thin beard, LSW a black jacket, gray sweatpants, white shoes, and a dark blue Seattle Mariners cap.

Derick Sexton was arrested on charges of ADW/Battery/O&R on South Virginia Street during a routine traffic stop of a vehicle with suspended license plates.

January 15, 2015

Police are still looking for the suspect in the carjacking at 1201 Victorian on January 10. The suspect is described as 5’8”, wearing sunglasses, bald, beard, earrings in both ears, and tattoos on his head. He was LSW a gray button up shirt.

Monroe Jones, a Tier III Sex Offender, is known to be residing in the 4100 block of Neil Road and is currently unemployed. He is in compliance with all laws and is not currently wanted by the police.

On January 14, Travis Brooks was arrested on charges of sexual assault and kidnapping stemming from a December 25 incident. A woman reported she was living in the 1800 block of El Rancho Drive and may have been the victim of a sex crime. A male victim was lured to the apartment and the couple was forced by Brooks to complete a sex act under threats of physical harm. Brooks was arrested on charges of sexual assault, kidnapping, luring a mentally disabled person, and coercion. He is currently being held without bail.

A suspect was seen kicking down the door and entering a residence on Kernite Street. He fled upon arrival of the officers. The suspect is described as B/M/A, 5’10”, medium build, and LSW a black hooded sweatshirt and dark sweats with bleach stains.
