Despite the cold, thousands gathered downtown for New Year celebrations.

Several Reno Police (RPD) officers were downtown to ensure the safety at the event.  Police interacted with the crowd all night, which resulted in very few arrests.

There were five arrests.

  • Two for misdemeanor drug paraphernalia possession
  • One arrest for possession of methamphetamine / possession of methamphetamine for sales, a felony
  • One misdemeanor arrest for disturbing the peace
  • One misdemeanor arrest for an outstanding warrant
  • Five were also detained for civil protective custody due to being intoxicated and unable to care for themselves.

RPD would like to thank the community and casino partners in assisting to make New Year’s Eve one of the most responsible celebrations ever.

RPD would also like to thank Whittlesea Taxi, Reno-Sparks Cab and Bell Limo for providing a taxi stand during the event.
