On Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2015 a Washoe County jury found Shawn Hemingway guilty of battery on an officer and possession of a controlled substance.
On June 10, 2013, police responded to an address in Washoe County about a possible hit-and-run accident.
Officers encountered Hemingway in the parking lot of his apartment complex and called for REMSA as he appeared to need medical assistance.
Hemingway became aggressive toward REMSA personnel and law enforcement. A physical struggle began, in which Hemingway spit in the face of a Reno police officer, according to police.
Hemingway was arrested for battery upon an officer. Upon his arrival at the Washoe County jail, he was found to have methamphetamine in his pants.
Hemingway could face up to 364 days in the Washoe County jail for the battery and up to four years in the Nevada State Prison for possession of a controlled substance count. Sentencing is scheduled for March 30, 2015.
