RENO, Nev. – Commemorative license plates, special-batch whisky and a record-breaking singing of a state song will be more than just tokens of how Nevada spent 2014, they’ll be the topics of discussion as the Sierra Nevada Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) leads off the chapter’s year of programming January 28 at the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa. Tiffany East, vice president of Public Relations at The Glenn Group, the agency selected to orchestrate the Nevada 150 campaign, and its more than 500 events in celebration of Nevada’s Sesquicentennial, will be presenting some of the challenges and high points the campaign and state observed over the previous year.
Coming off the heels of several notable activities for the campaign, including a nearly 50,000 person rendition of “Home Means Nevada” on Nevada’s anniversary of statehood, Oct. 31, East will present her agency’s take on the campaign to both PRSA members and interested attendees.
“Nevadans are very passionate and proud of their state and want to celebrate in any way that they can,” said East. “During a year-long celebration, the challenges can include finding ways to maintain interest with Nevadans and media, brainstorm new ideas and create a culmination worthy of a Sesquicentennial as special as Nevada.”
East will reveal how The Glenn Group tackled certain challenges along the way, including managing media fatigue and introduce learnings regarding Nevada residents the agency unearthed.
“We’re thrilled The Glenn Group will tell-all both for state history and the trick to managing more than 500 events,” said Alison Gaulden, APR, president of the Sierra Nevada Chapter of PRSA. “This program applies to a wide range of professionals from entry-level to CEOfrom event management to maximizing major anniversaries. The strategic communication professionals should join us in our first program of the year.”
Pricing for the luncheon is $20 for members, $30 for non-members. Students can attend for $15. The presentation begins at noon with networking beginning at 11:30 a.m. Those interested can register here or learn more online at www.prsareno.org.
